As a mom, and a clinical psychologist, Jill Robbins realizes
how important it is for kids with food allergies and sensitivities to feel
included at social occasions, where a sweet treat is often part of the fun. She
created HomeFree bakery with a line
of delicious, wholesome cookies so that people with food allergies can enjoy
treats along with everyone else. Seeing the smiles on the faces of kids eating HomeFree cookies, you’ll feel good knowing
that these really are treats you can trust.
HomeFree’s kitchen
is designed to bake safe, delicious treats. HomeFree
prepares all of their products with great care in their own baking facility.
From kitchen design, to staffing, to ingredients, HomeFree
treats are made with allergy safety in mind. Their kitchen appliances and other
materials are new, ensuring no prior usage with food allergens. Their delivery
area is separate from the kitchen, allowing staff to wipe down all ingredient
deliveries. And their well-trained staff members wear HomeFree
clothing and shoes, to avoid carrying in allergen traces.
No peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, wheat or
dairy, soy (except lecithin), fish, shell fish, or sesame are permitted in their
facility for any reason at any time. The only soy in their facility and
some of their products is soy lecithin, which is tolerated by most (but not
all) people with soy allergies.
Not only do they keep allergens out of their own facility, but they also are
careful about where their ingredients come from, including requiring allergen
documentation from every ingredient supplier. And they go further. They conduct
allergen testing for peanut, almond, egg, and milk proteins on their incoming
ingredient batches and on random product batches. For their certified gluten
free products, they additionally use stringent cleaning processes and frequent
testing for gluten.
